Hunters are introduced in Episode 2, and thankfully there aren’t that many to face throughout the game. They even charge at you like a bull if you get close. They’re fast moving, tank a lot of damage, and fire exploding pellets. The second enemy is the Hunter who is a three legged pain-in-the-arse. It’s not the typical suicidal zombie trope, however, as the grenade is a physical object that you can grab and use to your advantage or throw far away. These guys randomly pull out a grenade while chasing you to blow you up. It’s called the Zombine, and (surprise-surprise) is a zombie Combine. The first, introduced in Episode 1, is a new headcrab zombie. The most noteworthy are two new enemy types. It’s the same core gameplay loop, and is the developers having fun playing with new settings and trying to use the existing mechanics in interesting ways.ĭoes it add anything to the gameplay? Yes, but not much. This should come as no surprise as it’s literally more Half-life 2. The game’s highlight is its physics based-gameplay. These two games are the stand-alone expansions to Half-life 2, and if you don’t know what Half-life 2 is, then a) you’ve lived under a rock your entire life, and b) you should stop reading this and go play that immediately.
